August 2025 Product Release: New Monitors Experience and more!

Author

Hello SELECT users!

August was another month packed with product enhancements driven by your feedback! Head to our changelog for a full list, or read below for the highlights.

Alert on any metric with our new Monitors experience

We’ve redesigned the monitors experience from the ground up to be more powerful! You now have access to more data sources and metric alerting options (not simply spend). The interface has also been polished with a cleaner, more intuitive look and feel.

New Monitors experience in SELECT

Plus, we’ve bundled in a set of ready-made monitor templates to help you get started fast—whether you’re watching for slow-running queries or spotting unexpected query surge patterns.

Enhanced Object Tag Support

Enhanced object tag support in SELECT

Many Snowflake Customers use Object Tags as a way to govern the platform and understand spend. At SELECT, we've expanded the number of Object Tags we support and have created proper Tag Inheritance from databases down to tables. You can allocate spend by Object Tags using Usage Groups or use them in filters, columns, or Saved Views.

Improved User Facing Alerts

We've updated our existing connection errors to handle a wider range of issues, and provide more helpful resolution steps for each. If it's something you can fix in SELECT, there will be a link to the right page, and if it's something that we have docs describing in more detail, there will be a link to that too.

SELECT: improved user facing alerts

If you're an admin on the account, you'll also now get prompt notification emails so that you don't miss issues, and can resolve them swiftly. The same links and documentation that you'd see in the application will be available there too.

Average Daily Spend

Comparing costs month over month can get tricky since months don’t all have the same number of days. To make trend analysis easier, we’ve introduced a new metric: average daily spend.

You can find average daily spend now in both the Cost Explorer and Workload tabs.

Average Daily spend

Thanks to all of our customers; your feedback steer the direction of our product, and we couldn’t do it without you.

Here's to another great month!
